Audi Q7 6.0 V12 TDI! 490 hp, 740 lb-ft of torque, 0-60mph in 5.5 seconds, and pulls 0.9g on the skid pad all straight from the factory. Audi was working with Mercedes on some diesel emissions techy thingy called “BlueTec.” However, Audi decided not to bother offering the engine or that emissions technology which they had jointly worked on with Mercedes and would have likely ended up trickling down the US VW diesel lineup. Oh well, the 3.0 TDI did add the “Clean Diesel” designation for the 2009 Q7, which was nice!

I like to think had Audi followed through and offered the V12 TDI engine in the US (which would have needed BlueTec to make it US emissions compliant) despite the Great Recession then maybe things could have turned out a bit differently. But again, that’s just what I tell myself.

Kind of interesting how “yes or no” choices made around the 2008 Financial Crisis have impacted automakers. Look at the NSX.

Sounds like a good idea to me, there are so few V10 cars.

The pontiac was a fraternity brother’s 2001 Grand Am GT nick named the snow mobile after we got into a fender bender on an icy hill during the 2011 ATL snowpocalypse. It was a POS. He smoked in it and it wreaked of cigarettes, only good thing about that meant we could smoke cigars in it. Looked exactly like this:

Dodge and Cummins need to get together and join 2 of the current 6.7's on a common crankshaft to create a 13.4L V12 with 1,600 lb-ft of torque and stuff it into a pickup. Then we’d have something truly worthy of the Ram Rebel moniker.

Every time I see one of those I look for a V12 badge. Ditto with the Toureg and V10 badge.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen the 12 though :(
